A reminder that we are not in Singapore:
Used to be part of the dowry for Chinese in Singapore (maybe for the wealthier families?) - almost 15 years since the cat struggled to use one, cos at home it grew up doing all sewing work by hand, but the secondary school Home Econs syllabus required everything to be machine-sewn:
After 2 years of secondary school Home Econs teaching it to use something it never had (& still doesn't have) at home, the cat still does all sewing by hand :P
